SHARE YOUR FAVORITE ALTER BOY STORY!

Hi good Catholics!
I am curious, having been an alter boy for six years when I was just a wee tike, do you have a favorite alter boy story to share? If so, why not share it with my blog readers.

My favorite was when I was serving mass for a funeral. I was holding the incense burner and no sooner did Father put incense on the charcoal, then my eyes became all watery from the smoke that kept rising into my face.

After the mass, the relatives of the person who died came up to me and asked if I knew their deceased loved one because I was crying so much on the alter.

Ahhhh, the life of an alter boy. Share your stories and let’s see who I should send a Catholic Trips totebag to for the most amusing story!

Happy Saturday!
Jim

I was an altar boy while I was in junior high school back in the early 1970’s. We love to serve funeral and wedding masses. Because we can get a tip. At that time the wedding tip ranges from 50 cents to $5.00. Not bad for one hour of work. We found ways how to get tip from funeral mass. During the sign of peace, we would shake hands with the deceased family members. They feel comforted and we got paid.

We love to serve lunch time funeral mass during school days. After the mass, the school cafeteria is closed and the altar boy get to eat lunch in the convent with the finest coldcut sandwiches along with side dish.
